Jan Vapaavuori (MOH): Energy Efficiencies and Climate Change Are Challenges
"Our objective is to activate the industry, to cooperate among each other and with the public sector," says Jan Vapaavuori, Minister of Housing. "We also hope for greater industry R&D."
"The industry has not invested adequately in product development and R&D. Innovativeness has not been at the same level as in many other industries. We would also like to have more active industry dialogue with the wider community."
"We need more housing units, especially in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area where there has been great demand for housing, not enough housing units. Prices have been a special problem. Thatīs a central challenge in housing policy. In construction, the challenge is not whether to build, but where to build. Additionally, there are many other associated issues."
